Why You Need a Personal Humidifier For Allergies

According to statistics published by WebMD, nearly 55% of the American population is affected by allergies. Many of these allergens are airborne and many are actually floating around unseen to the naked eye within our homes! We commonly spend the majority of our waking hours indoors, especially during the colder Winter months. Although an air purifier may seen like the natural choice to relieve allergy symptoms, you also want to consider purchasing a personal humidifier.

How do personal humidifiers help relieve allergies, you might wonder? The answer has everything to do with the structure of the nose! Humidifiers help to keep the nasal passages moist and make breathing more comfortable. Keeping those nasal passages moist is especially important during the Winter when temperatures drop. We constantly run heaters indoors to keep us warm, but by adjusting the temperature on the thermostat we also reduce the natural humidity in the air that we breathe. This can make for quite an uncomfortable breathing experience for allergy sufferers. On top of experiencing irritated nasal and lung passages, these air pathways are also dry. This combination of conditions can have you running to the doctor's office.

Many doctors actually advise that patients use humidifiers in their homes during the cold, dry Winter season. An air purifier is always a good idea because these devices actually trap and remove microscopic airborne allergens from the indoor environment, but you may want to run this appliance concurrently with a personal humidifier during the worst of the Winter. Also be aware that some doctors may issue a note of caution against the use of humidifier in the home because of risk of mold. However, the threat of mold growth is almost eliminated with proper cleaning of humidifiers. This means changing out the water on a daily basis and switching out old humidifier filters for new ones at regular intervals.

You will also want to closely monitor the humidity levels in your home. Ideally, humidity levels should be kept around 35%-40%. Reading indoor humidity levels can be accomplished very easily by a reading of a digital humidifiers. There is a display that will tell you the exact amount of humidity in the air. Some of the more inexpensive models do not include a built-in hygrometer, but you can easily buy one for your bedroom - or wherever you operate your personal humidifier - from a home improvement store or even online.

Humidifiers for your home can drastically improve indoor breathing conditions, especially during the Winter season. Visit Buy Personal Humidifiers for more information and product reviews of the best personal humidifiers for your home!

Personal air purifiers can range in price from as low as $40 to several hundred dollars! Of course quality is important you and you want the best air cleaner that your money can buy. Advertising campaigns from different companies will tell you that their products are the best and point you directly to the check out line. However, some companies actually live up to the reputation of producing some of the best purifiers on the market.

Airfree is one of the reputable names in the air purifier business. It also earns a distinction as the "most tested" air purifiers from several independent laboratories. In case you're not sold just yet, let's review some reasons why Airfree appliances are top rated:

Reason #1: Extremely efficient

Airfree is well-known throughout the industry for extensively testing and improving the efficiency of their air cleaning appliances. You can easily review their website and find that several scientifically-credible independent laboratories have put these purifiers to the test. Results reveal that these appliances are effective in removing microorganisms, such as mold spores, dust mites, pet dander, and even bacteria and viruses through the help of its patented technology.

Reason #2: Innovative design

Airfree devices are unique from other appliances on the market. Most comparable purifiers only remove microorganisms from the air. Instead, this patented technology actually incinerates microorganisms, effectively killing them. Only removing microorganisms from the air can lead to a nasty overgrowth of mold, mildew, and bacteria colonies within its filters.

Reason #3: Economically sound and Environment friendly

Airfree is a favorite among those who are interested in environment-friendly air purifiers. These air cleaning devices use less electricity than a 50 watt light bulb! Also some of the more inexpensive air purifiers you will come across are not ozone or ion free. These cheaper purifiers produce ozone and ion emissions that are both toxic to your health and the environment.

Reason #4: No hidden costs for replacement parts

The majority of air cleaners on the market work via replaceable filters or UV lamps. The packaging will not tell you that these parts need to be replaced periodically. Over time, filters can result in extra costs of over $200 per year! Instead Airfree models do not use filters but rather rely on its technology that makes them obsolete.

Reason #5: Fast Performance

Airfree purifiers are extremely easy to install and use. You just need to plug it into an electrical outlet. Afterwards, microorganisms are pulled from the air and effectively vaporized within just 15 minutes!

Personal Air Purifiers - Do They Really Work?

Personal Air Purifiers - Do They Really Work?

Personal Air Purifiers - Do They Really Work?

OK so you've heard in passing about air purifiers. You know that there are several different kinds, especially personal air purifiers designed to effectively clean air in small spaces such as bedrooms or offices. If you or someone you love suffers from allergies, asthma, or sensitivities to airborne particles, such as dust or mold, you probably want a solution to ease their breathing woes. Most of all, before you spend any unnecessary money, you want to know if these air cleaning devices actually work. Some independent testing has put these air purifiers to the test to see if they are as effective as they claim.

Airfree is just one of the major brand names. They put their products to the test by an independent laboratory with their now-famous "Strawberry Test." If you've ever bought fresh strawberries from the market, it almost seems like they start going bad unless eaten immediately. Well, this test was designed by purchasing strawberries from the same package from the same supermarket, and was exposed to air for a period of 10 days. To control this experiment, the strawberries were hung by a string to prevent contact with any other surfaces, and places in two identical rooms - both 1350 feet, similar sunlight conditions, window location, temperature, and indoor humidity levels. Neither room had air conditioning, all windows remained closed all day long, and the doors were only open long enough for a photographer to take pictures of each strawberry twice per day.

How did the experiment turn out? At the start of the testing, there was no sign of mold on either strawberry. By Day 4, the room without the purifier showed the first signs of visible mold on the strawberry. Meanwhile the strawberry in room with the Airfree air purifier showed no signs of mold or decomposition. By the end of day 10, the strawberry in the control condition (in the room with no purifier) was molded, shriveled, and decomposed almost beyond recognition. In comparison, the strawberry in the test condition had just started to mold and shrivel at Day Nine.

The reason why the strawberry in the test condition remained fresh for many days longer is because of the effectiveness of the air cleaner. It was consistently purifying the air throughout the 10-day experiment. What a powerful visual description to answer the original questions of whether air purifiers work! While this purifier in this demonstration was powerful enough to consistently clean air in a room as large as 1350 feet, be sure to check the spec of any model that you may buy. Some air purifiers are only designed for personal use - and may only be able to work effectively in small rooms (some as small as 500 square feet). However, there are also air purifiers that work to clean the air in much larger spaces, such as whole house purifiers.

Did you know that air purifiers are effective at removing up to 99% of allergens and microorganisms that make you sick from the air - like pollen, mold spores, and dust mites? Visit Personal Air Purifiers for reviews and ratings to help you buy the best personal air purifier for fresh, clean air in your home!
